part of a thread in which my pronunciations of certain words and
how many syllables I use in them were discussed.

To show that I pronounced "courage" with two syllables, I've done the following steps:

1. Extract the word "courage" from a larger file.
2. On an oscilloscope trace, locate the syllable boundary.
3. Insert a blank interval between syllables.
4. Plot side by side the signals with no blank and with blank.

Sounds:     No blank     With blank

Oscilloscope traces:

Courages_side_by_side (7K)>

Here is the sound file I extracted the word "courage" from:
    MP3:    correspond_thru_american.mp3
    WAV:    correspond_thru_american.wav
