Explanation of binary column headings:  Each digit in a three-digit-binary column heading represents one of the three newsgroups.  The most significant bit is for AUE, the middle bit is for AEU, and the least significant bit is for UCLE.  A "one" means the corresponding newsgroup is one of the crossposted groups in that column; a "zero", that it is not.  For example the heading "111" is for counts of postings to all three groups; "001" is for postings to UCLE only; "110" is for postings to AUE and AEU and not to UCLE.  The column headed "000" represents postings that found their way into the database, but were not posted to any of the three groups.  That column should be ignored by the general reader.

The files for April 2000 and July 2002 have been found to be corrupted, so no crossposting data can be shown for those months.

Note to Lynx users:   This file is not expected to work with a Lynx browser.  The reason is that it has line breaks in column headings, and, last I heard, Lynx doesn't support them, but does other highly undesirable things that I don't remember for sure when it finds a line break in a column heading.

Note about early UCLE numbers: The newsgroup UCLE came into existence in November 1999.  I apparently didn't start downloading UCLE postings until sometime in February 2000.  For that reason, in the columns where this note appears, the numbers for UCLE in the "Totals/UCLE" column and in the column headed "001" don't include all of the postings that were posted to UCLE with no crossposting.   However, the numbers in the columns for crossposting to UCLE from the other two groups should be valid monthly totals.
